Prayer Vigil

On April 30th our Ladies Group held a prayer vigil at our church from 7:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. This prayer vigil was indeed a blessing as it seemed we were thirsty for such an event. As our church members, as well as the members of the other churches invited, shared we realized how powerful prayer can be in our lives and the need for us to pray without ceasing. Occasions such as these allows us to share from our heart without interruption and also results in us being renewed in the Lord. In the Bible we are encouraged and uplifted when we read: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7).

Easter 2010

Our Easter celebration began with our annual Palm Sunday service where the church was decorated with local palms and the messages shared depicting Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem. On Good Friday we had our afternoon service with everyone honoring the crucifixion and this led us into the two Sunday services. The Sunrise service was calm and mellow leading one to imagine what it must have been like to be at the tomb of Jesus so many years ago early in the morning. We capped it off with our biggest service of the Easter season, Resurrection Sunday service. The church was decorated to cultivate the intended mood and the service was indeed a celebration of Jesus' resurrection and how we are now blessed with the gift of eternal through his sacrifice.

Methodist Protestant Church Day

Six of the seven churches of the Belize Methodist Protestant church conference participated in our Methodist Protestant Church Day. All the different churches donated various food and snacks which were sold at this event. The proceeds from this event will be used to assist the youths of the various churches with their annual Youth Camp payments. There were team competitions as well as many other games and activities which made it a fun day fellowshipping with other Christians. A highlight was the sharing done by individuals and group from various churches who blessed those present with songs and testimonies. A lot of people from the surrounding communities came out as well to support our Church Day and experienced a fun, spirit-filled day!

Discipleship Training

A Discipleship Training has been scheduled for March 5^th & 6^th at our church. This training will be for approximately 30 people from various churches in the Belize District. The goal of this training is to equip God’s people for his work with structured, tried and true methods. A couple from the United States with vast experience in training will be facilitating the sessions.

Ladies Retreat

A ladies retreat was held at Banana bank Lodge on February 26^th and 27^th for 25 ladies from our church as well as from other churches. Ms. Juanita Sampson was the guest speaker and she excellently conveyed the messages taught in the book of Esther. Her sharing left us renewed, refreshed and equipped for everyday life as well as for ministry. We thank God for the opportunity he has given us to experience a retreat from our regular schedule and the distractions of our daily lives. It has allowed us to refocus, to re-evaluate and to reflect on our Christian walk with God and has also prepared us to continue serving God while motivating us to get more involved in His work within our church.

Fundraising Committee Block Drive

Our Fund Raising Committee, led by Mr. Ulpiano (Ryan) Leal, launched a block drive on February 21^st. Members of the committee, as well as others willing participate, were issued a form to use to solicit contributions towards the blocks needed for our ongoing church building. Our church needs approximately 13,000 blocks and this committee’s efforts to gain funding for these blocks will provide much-needed assistance to the project. This is only the first of several fundraising projects planned for this year, all in an effort to assist with the new church building. Workers, Workers, Workers… Hallelujah!!!

Our church has had two successful word days at our new church site this year (February 13^th & 27^th). Both men and ladies came out to clean up the site to get ready for a team of volunteers who arrived on February 28^th. This team is made up of ladies and men from Bethel Congregational Methodist Church and Moore's Chapel Baptist Church. We are very grateful to these representatives from the two churches who are working hard every day and spending their time and money to make our vision of a new church become a reality. May God’s blessings continue to be upon them.
