Our New Wheels

The power of prayers is evident every day in our lives as we see God continuously answering our prayer requests. At our Prayer Vigil on November 24th we prayed for a new bus for our church. This was not just any bus; we were not only replacing the old 15-seater church van with a newer vehicle – we were replacing it with a newer 44-seater bus. Our church had been praying for God to guide our decision making regarding the transportation of our congregation to our weekly services. As human we were a little apprehensive about investing so much of the church’s money in a bus but we acted on faith. If we were praying for church growth we needed to show that we were ready for this growth. We wanted to provide a comfortable means of transportation to our congregation and having our own bus would also allow us to visit other churches and travel more freely at a lesser cost.

The answer to our prayers came approximately three months later. At the end of January we got our bus. Everyone was excited about our new bus. We cleaned it up, did a little painting, proudly put our church’s name on both sides of it and immediately began using it to get our people to church.

Mr. Jimmy, our main driver, is the caretaker of the bus and makes sure it is always in running order and cleans it up with the help of Lyall (his grandson who is also the unofficial conductor). Thank you, Mr. Jimmy for gladly taking on such a big responsibility. Also instrumental in the purchase of this bus was our treasurer, Mr. Barrington Sutherland who worked out the logistics involved in purchasing this bus and getting an experienced driver, Mr. Alex Jex, to drive it down to us from the U.S. Mr. Sutherland and Mr. Jex your hard work did not go unnoticed.
