VBS 2007

This year’s VBS began on July 30th and ended on August 2nd. The 23-member team that came in from the U.S. worked very hard and tirelessly to make it a success. Although we were able to spend time with only a portion of the team we were glad that we got the opportunity to meet new people who were willing to spend money and give up their vacations to plan a VBS for us. Our board members wanted to show our appreciation for them so we planned a welcome reception for the Thursday night when the majority of the team arrived. Included in the welcome reception were the four American-Belizean who had arrived two days earlier.

The group who stayed in Sand Hill was energetic and fun to be around and prepared special songs and testimonies which they shared with us during our Sunday and Wednesday night services. They even took over an entire portion of the Wednesday night service where their worship team (musicians included) shared some beautiful songs. During the day they were all busy teaching or supervising crafts to over a hundreds children that attended VBS. Those kids took home some really great crafts including flip flops.

Their time in Belize ended with a dinner at Celebrity restaurant and relaxing at the Radisson for their final night’s stay. Some of us were able to join them for this final dinner where we got the opportunity to spend some time with those who were stationed in San Lazaro. Although it was unfortunate that one of their young team member fell ill it was overall a well-organized and fun filled VBS 2007 for us in Sand Hill. Thanks team for all your sacrifices and hard work!!!
