National Day of Prayer
September 10th was a national holiday for the country of Belize us as well as the National Day of Prayer. We had a special service planned and our church was beautifully decorated in the colors of the Belizean flag - red, white and blue. It was also a special day for our church as for the first time we were visited by a church from the village of Ontario in the Cayo district. Our church was packed as they brought 80 people with them.
It was a beautiful service; we all sang our National Anthem, said our National Prayer and everyone joined in with Mrs. Anna Reyes to pledge allegiance to our Belizean flag. The service continued with Jazell, accompanied only by Emmanuel on the drums, singing a glorious rendition of a beautiful patriotic song: “Belize by the Sea”. Our hearts were truly blessed by the songs that were chosen and everyone could feel the presence of the Holy Spirit. Rev. Claudio Leal was on fire and his sermon on “Freedom from the Slavery of Sin” was magnificently done.
Following the service everyone was invited to stay for lunch and we had a wonderful time eating together and getting to know each other. The hours after lunch were spent playing volleyball, basketball and for those who were less athletic they spent the time singing songs in the church or just sitting back enjoying all the activities happening around them. Once again, God bestowed his blessing upon us as the entire day went well and the time spent fellowshipping with another church was indeed very enjoyable. As they left at 4:00 p.m. that afternoon an invitation was extended to our church to return the favor.
