National Sunday 2007

We started out the month of September with our National Sunday service on September
9th. The church was decorated in our national colors, red, white and blue. The service, led by Glenford Davis, was well-planned and executed. We heartily sang our national anthem and proudly recited our national prayer and pledged allegiance to our Belizean flag. It was evident that the plans for this service were in motion long before this day as each Sunday school class had prepared an activity which they were ready to share. Especially cute were the preschoolers who waved their Belizean flags as they sang praises to God for our country.
T
his annual service celebrates the growth of our nation, Belize, as well as its independence. It also serves to instill in Christians the need for them to support and pray for the leaders of their country. The Bible clearly states in Romans 13:1-2 that all authority comes from God and that we must be in subjection to it. Furthermore, in 1 Timothy 2: 1 -2 Christians are not only encouraged to obey their government, but also to pray for them. This service is of much significance to us because, as a church, we realize the important role we play in influencing those who attend our services to be thankful for our beautiful and peaceful country which God has blessed us with.
