Belize Conference Special Meeting

Although January began with what many would see as obstacles, we Christians see them as opportunities. The Belize Conference called a special meeting which was held on January 19th in San Lazaro. This meeting became necessary due to the resignation of the conference President and Secretary. These posts were previously held by Donovan Grinage and Alicia Grinage respectively. The meeting went smoothly and our new elected President and Secretary are Rev. Claudio Leal and Margaret Chee. Due to another resignation, that of the Camp Director who was elected in August 2007, this position was also vacant. Re-elected was Mrs. Tanya Sutherland who was the previous year’s Camp Director. We are confident that they will do a great job for the time they are in office. Thanks to all of you for stepping up and taking on the responsibility at such short notice. Also on the agenda was the election of a delegate, a lay person, to attend the General Conference in May of this year. This person will accompany the conference president to the General Conference being held in Mississippi. Mrs. Clementina Vaccaro was elected by all those present as the delegate for the Belize Conference. This is the first time that the Belize Conference will be represented at the General Conference. 2008 has begun with many positive changes for the Belize Conference. We look forward to a successful year filled with many blessings and opportunities for the continued growth of our seven churches.
