Easter 2008

The Easter season is one of the most important times of the year for our church. It marks the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. A lot of planning goes into the services that we have during this period as we want to ensure that the message is clear that we can have salvation because of the ultimate sacrifice which was made for us so many years ago.

We began with our Maundy Thursday service which was held at 7:00 p.m. Mrs. Clementina Vaccaro led the congregation in songs that commemorated the occasion and handed out bookmarkers as a reminder. The message delivered by the Pastor also reinforced the importance of this night’s service and he built on that foundation by ending with a powerful PowerPoint presentation depicting Jesus’ experience so many years ago. This was followed by the singing of a special song during which the men’s group lit all the candles in the church to set the mood for the beautiful candlelight communion service; a fitting ending for such an important occasion.

The following morning our annual Prayer Breakfast was held at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Roberts. Even though the morning was a little wet the significance of the occasion was not lost as many came out to begin their day in prayer and fellowship with other Christians.

On Saturday our first ever Church Day was held right on the church grounds. Young and old came dressed in their white t-shirts to be divided into teams. Four teams were formed and competed throughout the day and only one was victorious. However, this did not matter as everyone had fun, fun, fun as the day was filled with laughter, great company and delicious food. We look forward to a repeat of it next year.

It was only fitting that the long Easter weekend ended with the service celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Our church was decorated with beautiful bouquets of fresh flowers paid for by the Pancotto Primary School. We had a packed house and everyone was blessed by the wonderful worship service and especially the sermon our pastor delivered which reminded us that we now can have Salvation through Jesus’ death and resurrection. All our events went well and we were all blessed to have been a part of them. We would like to offer our thanks to all those who dedicated their time and effort to make these events successful.
