Appreciation of the Shols

This Sunday was set aside to hold a service of appreciation for a very special family, the Shols. Rev. Santiago Shol, Mrs. Candice Shol and James and Steven have been a vital part of our congregation. Over the last five years or so we have seen the boys grow up right within our midst and we have grown to know and love them as individuals and as a family. Rev. Santiago and Ms. Candice have taught many members of our church via their Emmanuel Bible College teachings and, we, through these teachings have grown as Christians and as individuals. They have also contributed immensely to the weekly development of our congregation by teaching the leadership courses on Sunday nights to those who attend our services. Both the Emmanuel Bible College and the leadership teachings left us with knowledge that was essential to us become mature Christians and that was applicable to everyday life. Many of our questions were answered and now we are most knowledgeable about our Wesleyan doctrine and how it relates to what we do every day. And even when they were not teaching they were supporting us by merely being present; we knew that we could always call on them for assistance and they would be willing to help us. Various members of our congregation expressed their thanks and gratitude by sharing special items they had prepared. Rev. Leal also presented them with some small tokens as reminders of our church. The day ended off with Rev. Leal inviting the entire church to join us for food on the grounds in their honor. I am sure they will leave with as happy memories of us as we have of them.

As God has led their lives in a new direction we are truly happy that they remain an example to us by allowing him to lead while they simply follow. Our prayers will continue to be with them as they do God’s work at their new church.
