A Prayer Safari - camp 2008

Camp 2008 began on July 2nd and ended on the 5th. These were 3 ½ days that were jammed with activities geared at sharing the word with our youths while having fun. This theme was geared towards breaking down “The Lord’s Prayer” and making clear to them why each line of this prayer is important and also the order in which it is said. I think even the adults learned something new about “The Lord’s Prayer”. We had invited the pastor of a Methodist Protestant Church (outside of our conference) to speak for the night services. His messages were very effective and well-received. A total of 19 youths dedicated their lives to Christ. The afternoon sessions were all planned and executed by us for the first time ever. These too went very well and the youths especially enjoyed them as the adults did some very interesting role playing. For the first time ever we had a awards ceremony and a banquet at our camp. They were both a big hit and we plan to make them annual events. This year we had 107 people at camp which showed an increase of 34% in attendance. From the Belize Methodist Protestant Conference Sand Hill, San Lazaro and Hattieville church were represented. Our aim is to get representation from all churches in our conference at this event next year. God has continued to bless our Youth Camps and we can only look forward to bigger and better blessings next year. So youths sign up early for Camp 2009 because the way things look you may not be able to get a bed at camp if you wait too long.
